Curriculum Scientifico di Paolo Silvestrini

Paolo Silvestrini è dal 2001 professore ordinario di Fisica alla Seconda Università di Napoli (SUN, adesso rinominata Università degli Studi della Campania “ Luigi Vanvitelli”), e collaboratore presso il Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche, Istituto di Scienze Applicate e Sistemi Intelligenti, Pozzuoli (Napoli). La sua attività di ricerca si è sempre focalizzata sulla Fisica Quantistica, ed in particolare sui fondamenti della Meccanica Quantistica, con particolare attenzione all’effetto Tunnel Quantistico Macroscopico ( Macroscopic Quantum Tunnelling, MQT), alla Coerenza Quantistica Macroscopica ( Macroscopic Quantum Coherence, MQC), e alla teoria dell’Informazione  e Computazione Quantistica. E’ autore di ricerche pioneristiche, sia dal punto di vista teorico che sperimentale, che hanno aperto nuovi orizzonti per lo studio dell’Interferenza Quantistica e la Computazione Quantistica in sistemi Josephson. Nel 2004, Paolo Silvestrini è stato co-autore del Volume “Quantum Computing and Quantum Bits in Mesoscopic Systems” (che tradotto si legge Calcolo Quantistico e Bit Quantistici in Sistemi Mesoscopici ) insieme a Berardo Ruggiero e ad Anthony Leggett (premio Nobel per la Fisica nel 2003). Il volume raccoglie una sintesi delle ricerche svolte da i principali gruppi di ricerca mondiali nel campo della Fisica Quantistica in sistemi macroscopici fino a quel momento.
Attualmente, oltre all’attività di insegnamento e di divulgazione di Fisica Quantistica, e si sta impegnando ad applicare le sue conoscenze di Fisica per comprendere l’evoluzione di Sistemi Complessi in ambito Economico e Sociale.
